We are motivated by the green transition relying on magnets for energy conversion in wind turbines and electrical vehicles and the grid electrifications needing soft magnets for electrical transformers. Therefore, we are focusing on sustainable preparation routes with low or no rare earth elements involved. We are extensively using X-ray and neutron characterization to follow the material preparation process, allowing us to find new pathways and reduce energy consumption in production. We employ large scale facilities such as synchrotron and neutron sources to get atomic insights, while vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) is used to characterize the macroscopic magnetic properties.
